End of Year Awards (Scroll down for 2023 awards)

Each year, CVDCC announces photographic awards at its end of year Banquet. Three different sets of awards are made:

  • Photographer of the Year Awards (Bronze, Silver, Gold): these are awarded to photographers who have accumulated most points in competitions during the year. In earlier years this include both Digital and Print, but now just Digital. 1 point is counted for every image entered, 3 for an Honorable Mention, and 5 for an Excellence Award. In recent years, only the 20 highest scoring images are counted.
  • Image of the Year Awards: every image that received an HM or an Excellence Award during the competition year is entered into a special year-end competition that is judged by a 3-person panel of outside judges. Awards (7-10 HMs, Bronze, Silver, Gold) are made for each competition Division.
  • Summer WOW Competition A new and different competition was started in 2020 called our WOW Competition, where the only judging criteria is the first impact of the image on the judges (Wow Factor). No other rules, except the picture must be taken in July and August, the 2 months where there are no other club activities. The club board of directors are the judges, and thus ineligible to enter.

Special certificates are provided to all awardees. Additionally, gold, silver and bronze awardees receive medals.
