SALTON SEA PHOTO SAFARI 2024!!

The Safari was led by our guide Sandi Wheaton on February 3rd, starting at the south end of the Salton Sea: we traveled to locations for burrowing owls, the Obsidian Butte tree formations, geothermal and agricultural locations, the Sonny Bono Wildlife Preserve, Mexican food in Calipatria, brief stops at Salvation Mountain and East Jesus, then a sunset finale at Bombay Beach - what a great time!!

COACHELLA VALLEY DESERT CAMERA CLUB MEETUPS
As a new desert season begins, it’s good to remember that getting out with friends to photograph interesting new places is a favorite part of our club. To open up more photo outings and fun, the Board is tapping into club membership’s experience, inviting photo outing leadership by any current member with a destination in mind. So… Anybody can lead a photo outing…! Any and all current club members are invited to dream up and lead a photo outing, wherever your interests lie. It may be two members or twenty, a trip to a museum, a garden, a hike or an urban environment - a workshop - you, as a “Meetup Leader”, need only follow a few guidelines in putting together an event: · Leader provides destination details and meetup date/time/location, any requirements or space limitations, plus Leader contact info to Outings Chair; · Outings Chair posts invitation details via email, Facebook and website; · Leader organizes attendees and ensures sign-in at meetup; · Leader advises attendees carpooling is at the discretion of drivers & riders; · Participants are encouraged to upload trip images on the club Facebook page. That’s it! Anyone can lead a photo outing! Here’s some ideas to get started: LA Street photography, Farmer’s markets, Joshua Tree Nat’l Park, PS Museum of Art, Modernism tours, the Indian Canyons, PS Air Museum, Catalina Island, Huntington Gardens, Santa Barbara, Sonny Bono Wildlife Reserve / Salton Sea, Temecula Wine Country, The Living Desert, a Desert Jeep Tour, the Santa Rosa Plateau, Whitewater Canyon, Big Morongo Preserve, Anza Borrego, San Diego Botanical Garden... a Workshop… you name it!

CVDCC High School Photographic Competition
From time to time CVDCC conducts a High School Photographic Competition open to students attending high schools across the Coachella Valley. An extremely high quality of entries is received and judging among the entries was most challenging.
